Free Fire Launches 2026 Fright Night Halloween Event

The air is getting colder, and in the world of mobile gaming, that means one thing. Halloween has arrived. Garena is pulling out all the stops for its flagship battle royale, Free Fire, with the official launch of the 2026 “Fright Night” update. It goes live today. For years, Free Fire has celebrated the spooky season with cosmetic makeovers. This year is different. The team is introducing a massive gameplay shift: a dedicated cooperative zombie survival mode that tasks squads with staying alive against hordes of the undead.

The Dead Arrive in Bermuda

Named “Undead Uprising,” the new mode shifts the focus away from traditional player-versus-player tension. Instead, four-player squads must drop into a heavily fog-covered version of the Bermuda map. Survival is the only goal. As the match progresses, players face six distinct waves of zombies. Each wave introduces stronger, faster mutants, culminating in a giant boss fight at the end of the fifteen-minute round.

Standard battle royale rules do not apply here. Ammunition is incredibly scarce, forcing players to coordinate their loadouts. One teammate might focus on crowd control with a flamethrower, while another picks off high-value targets from a distance. The zombie horde is diverse, featuring fast-moving “Screechers” that disorient players with sonic attacks, and lumbering “Bloaters” that explode on death, leaving behind toxic clouds.

Survival Requires Real Teamwork

“We wanted to create an experience where players actually have to talk to each other,” says Garena game designer Marcus Wong. “You cannot run-and-gun your way through this mode. If you do not share your resources, your squad will die by the third wave.” Players can revive fallen teammates, but doing so takes time and leaves the remaining squad members vulnerable to attack.

Gothic Skins and Haunted Loot

Of course, Halloween would not be complete without fresh loot. Garena has unveiled a huge lineup of limited-edition cosmetics for the Fright Night run. The headline outfit is the “Soul Weaver” bundle, featuring a dark, gothic animated trench coat and glowing neon skull masks. Unlike previous years where the best skins were locked behind paywalls, players can earn several of these items just by playing. By completing daily challenges in the Undead Uprising mode, squads earn Fright Tokens. These tokens can be traded in the event shop for weapon skins, parachute designs, and the highly anticipated “Grave Digger” emote.

  • Soul Weaver Bundle: Gothic animated trench coat with glowing purple accents.
  • Neon Bone Carver: A legendary skin for the M1887 shotgun that displays a unique kill feed animation.
  • Fright Tokens: In-game currency earned through the co-op mode to unlock free rewards.

A Spooky Atmosphere Makeover

The aesthetic changes go deeper than just outfits. The main lobby has received a complete graveyard makeover, complete with eerie background music and jump scares if you click the wrong screen element. Even the classic supply crates on the battlefield have been replaced with wooden coffins. Garena has also tweaked the in-game sound design. The footsteps of your enemies are now drowned out by the groans of approaching zombies, adding a layer of psychological tension that keeps players on edge.

Fright Night runs from mid-October through November 6, 2026. The update is free to download on both iOS and Android. If you want to grab the exclusive rewards, you will need to start grinding early. Garena has already confirmed that the “Soul Weaver” cosmetics will not return to the store after the event ends, making them highly collectible. Grab your squad, stock up on ammo, and prepare for a very long night.
